Why Recycle:
1. To keep toxic materials out of landfills to avoid possible life-threatening contamination of ground water.
2. To reclaim valuable resources like gold, silver, and platinum used in small amounts in electronics.
3. By recycling with TREES, ISU Recycle Center, RecycleForce, and Duke Energy, you can be assured that all electronic waste will be dismantled and recycled within the United States, mainly in Indiana and the Midwest, following environmentally safe standards approved by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management
• No hazardous wastes will be accepted except for electronics.
• No major appliances will be accepted, such as washer/dryer, stove, etc.

• No Freon-containing appliances will be accepted such as refrigerators, air conditioners,
or water coolers.
• No radioactive materials will be accepted such as home smoke detectors
• All attempts should be made to preserve the integrity of the product. Cords should not
be cut or removed. Please do not crush or dismantle items.
• All hard drives and data storage media will be secured and erased or destroyed using
electronic industry approved methods.
• Businesses, non-profit offices, or industries interested in recycling electronic scrap should
contact the ISU Recycling Center for information and to make plans for individual drop-offs.

• There is no fee to recycle e-scrap at this event except for TVs. TVs 27” and smaller - $5 fee and larger
TVs - $10 fee. Contributions to help with the expenses related to this volunteer effort would be
appreciated.
Suggested contribution – a car trunk load - $5.
